Sheet music - “Freedom the Vision"
The point of departure for these arrangements is the musical tradition, namely the negro spirituals, which is the origin of what we today call “afro-american” music. The arrangements present these familiar tunes in a somewhat different harmonic context related to jazz music.
The Swedish altosaxophone player Håkan Lewin has created a musical material which I believe will be a great joy for church musicians, who want to approach this tradition.
Through the use of the pipe organ the organist is able, together with an instrumentalist or a singer, to fulfill the musical tasks otherwise performed by the rhytm section, the bass player, the brass section or the power of the entire “Big band”.
The arrangements can be used exactly as notated or with a great deal of improvisatory freedom. Through the use of the chord analysis the material can be used in diverse solistic or accompanimental context.
There are no limits..... During a period of several years I have had the possibility to perform hundreds of concerts based on this material together with Håkan Lewin himself. It is my hope and conviction that this music will be a source of inspiration and joy for church musicians, instrumentalists, singers and congregations in Sweden and abroad.

Sometimes it feels as if the gates of heaven are wide open! The music is heavenly for the soul. Sundsvalls Tidning (Swedish newspaper)
Here we have the opportunity to listen to two very skilful musicians with an enormous pathos and joy in their musicianship. (Swedish magazine for organ and organ music) Orgelforum
In spite of the fact that the organ is a little bit in the background of this recording, I recommend this record to listeners for an experience which brings You beyond the every day life towards a place where music really functions as the opener of the gates to something surprisingly different...
